Testimonials
Having decades of experience, endorsements and accolades, scroll through the testimonials and see what clients past and present have to say.In 2008 while doing some business with the Catalina Island Humane Society I mentioned to Ted Butland that we had a project that was so out of control cost wise that we could not afford to build it. The architect's estimate was $25,000,000 plus architecture. I did not know at that time that Ted was a builder. Ted said "let me take a look at the project". The result was that E. H. Butland Corp. gave us a price for the architecture, engineering, permits and construction. They cut the architectural and engineering fees by $1,100,000 (50%). They reduced the construction from $25,000,000 to$ 13,495,000 with an 18 month schedule. The project was closed out at $13,011,392 ($483,608 under run) and was completed in 16 months. This included over $300,000 in upgrades we made during the course of the project. We are very pleased with E.H. Butland Corp. and can't speak highly enough about them. We never had any major disagreements or confrontations and everything went together seamlessly. They worked with the City very well and overcame many obstacles in City Planning and the Building Department. We are confident in recommending E.H. Butland Corp. to you as we are very, very pleased. The construction process was painless and the quality of the construction is first class. Butland also has been prompt in taking care of warranty issues as well. We recommend them highly.

I was the supervising architect for gkkworks who was engaged by E.H. Butland Corp. to work with them in a Design-Build relationship in connection with the new Pasadena Humane Society 31,000 sq ft facility and subterranean parking garage. I supervised the Permitting and Construction Phases. During my involvement with E.H. Butland Corp. I found all of the staff involved with the project to be highly professional and consistently diligent relative to their commitment and obligations to the client and project. E.H. Butland Corp. and gkkworks worked very collaboratively together. I also observed them maintain very strong and cooperative relationships with the City's Planning and Building Departments during the course of the permitting process and later construction inspections, as well as with their subcontractors. These relationships very much contributed to the high quality project that was beautifully executed. I know the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA is very proud of their new facility and extremely happy with the work of E.H. Butland Corp. I am happy to recommend E.H. Butland Corp. to you for the quality of their work, their attention to detail, and for the relationships that they maintain with their design-build partners. I would welcome the chance to work with them again if the opportunity arose.

E.H. Butland Corp. has completed several construction projects for the District. They have completed an Emergency Expansion, 5 Tower SNF to Med Surg. Conversion and a CT Installation project, all being OSHPD projects. Each of them were completed in a timely manner and received Construction Finals and OSHPD approvals. E.H. Butland has also done several City of Lancaster projects that were completed successfully and on time. Some of these projects were the Blood Donor Center, Clinical Lab building and MRI /Breast Imaging Building. I recommend E.H. Butland for construction projects whether they are City or OSHPD projects. They're always willing to work to meet the District's needs and complete projects in the most efficient way possible.

Dave, I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate Rick’s help on our recent installation project. Rick did all of the electrical work in such a professional manner, including correcting problems he identified that were not related to his identified job. He has been instrumental in helping Siemens solve construction related problems that were unexpected. John Smyrniotis of (Siemens) was especially appreciative.

E.H. Butland Corporation has completed several projects for the hospital over the last 15 years. They are very experienced in working with OSHPD which has proven to be a real advantage to the hospital. All the projects E.H. Butland Corporation completed for us were constructed, inspected and occupied ahead of schedule. E.H. Butland Corporation is a qualified OSHPD contractor. I recommend that you consider E. H. Butland Corporation as a serious candidate for any upcoming projects.

I want to thank you for the continued quality and timely work you and your company have provided to us on many of our projects. Most recently, E.H. Butland completed the build out of two operating rooms and an upgrade to their pathology room within an active ambulatory surgery center. These projects were delivered on budget, ahead of schedule, and without disruption to the surgery center and the building's tenants. E.H. Butland performs quality work and you stand by it. You have good supervisors who have an in-depth knowledge of construction work, particularly in a healthcare setting that is highly regulated. For those who are considering a tenant improvement project, I would not hesitate to recommend E.H. Butland. We are very satisfied customers of yours.

I want to thank you for the quality and timely work you and your company provided us in the tenant improvement build outs of our Huntington Pavilion. Butland came ready to work and moved through the processes extremely professionally and the end result was a gorgeous facility about which we are continually hearing rave reviews. All of the superintendents you had on the job were committed to a quality project, kept us informed, and brought the project in on budget and even a little ahead of schedule! That is a rare result these days. For those who may be considering a Tl build out, I would not hesitate to recommend E. H. Butland. Their work on our Cancer Center, Linear Accelerator Vaults, Cardiology Suites, Imaging Center, Neuroscience Center, Pre-Admission Testing Center, Breast Center and Ambulatory Surgery Center was nothing short of spectacular. We are very satisfied customers.

I want to thank you and your team for the great work E.H. Butland Corp. did for Huntington Hospital over the past year. The Imaging Center, Breast Center, Oncology Center, Neuroscience, Pre-Operatory and Cardiology projects were all successful. The projects were completed in a timely manner and with the quality expected. The E.H. Butland Corp, project managers and superintendents, worked well with the owner's management team, the project architect and the users. Your input and knowledge of medical facility construction and systems helped resolve difficult and sensitive design and aesthetic issues. This proved essential in the successful completion of the projects. Your team's attention to the projects and cooperation with Huntington's management is much appreciated. I have no hesitation in recommending E.H. Butland Corp. to other project owners. I look forward to our next project together.

I want to thank you for the quality and timely work on the Toluca Lake Health Center Tl. The project was completed without disruption to the rest of the facility. We were happy with the communication, cleanliness and professionalism shown by your team. The knowledge and expertise of the project superintendent kept everything running smoothly throughout the project. For those who are considering a tenant improvement project, I would recommend E.H. Butland Corp.

It is my pleasure to write this recommendation letter for E.H. Butland Corp. E.H. Butland just helped us to construct a freestanding radiation oncology center in West Covina, California. The facility has a dedicated 6 slice Brilliance CT scanner from Philips and an Elekta Synergy Linear Accelerator with onboard cone beam CT. Additional Tenant Improvement office space totals approximately 5000 square feet. E.H. Butland Corp. was involved in the project from the very beginning. They came in highly recommended from another colleague. They surely exceeded our expectation. The entire construction process was a wonderful journey for us. The way they do business is transparent and professional. They were able to finish all the work including Linac and CT rooms before the rest of the building was completed. That saved us at least 4 months of construction time. Based on my experience, no other construction company would try and can finish the job ahead of the schedule. The quality of their job is superb. With E.H. Butland being your general contractor, you can be sure the job is in the right hands.

Once again it is my pleasure to send you my thanks and appreciation for your hard work and services over the past few years. The two tenant improvement projects and the remodeling work you have done for us serve as exemplary examples of high standards for Biomat USA. I'm sure we will have the same results on the new development project currently ready to get underway. As always, it is a pleasure working with Dave, Cory and the other members of your company. As you know, I work with other contractors all over the country and I do my best to hold them to the quality of standards set by the folks at E. H. Butland. Thank you once again for making my job a little easier.
Michael GoldDirector of FacilitiesBiomat USA Inc.
Thank you for making my life a little easier. The tenant improvement project you recently completed in Bakersfield turned out to be our company's new "model" center and has set a new standard for our future plasma collection centers throughout the country. In addition to the excellent workmanship, it was a pleasure to work with Dave, Brian and the rest of the people in your group and we look forward to continuing good business relations. I have personally headed over fifty such projects over the past 7 years and you guys had the shortest punch list. Thanks again for all your courtesies, hard work and professionalism.

I am writing to you in reference to the addition to my facility at Radiation Oncology Associates. I had the opportunity to work closely with your senior manager, Kalevi Kekkonen. I also worked with a field superintendent, Mr. Bob McElwain. Both were very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and very cooperative. At first, I will admit I was weary of all the construction and noise affecting my office and the patients, but with your staff's professionalism and spotlessness, it made the transition run beautifully. I am very happy with the outcome of my new addition, and I would like to thank you for all your hard work. It is always a pleasure to work with wonderful people who actually take care of the customer. I look forward to working with your company in the future. Thank you once again for a job well done. Please do not hesitate to use me as a reference.

Twelve years ago, EHBDC was the successful bidders on our new 15,000 square foot medical Office building in Carpinteria. Having had terrible past experiences with all the reliable general contractors in Santa Barbara County, we elected to go in search of a new builder for the Carpinteria project. A new field of general contractors was assembled, and we put the project out for competitive bid. We awarded the project to EHBDC based on their experience and the recommendation of the architect. Since that time I have been using Butland's services exclusively for construction management and general construction. EHBC has completed various projects for us ranging in size from a small MRI equipment change out to a 32,000 square foot medical office building which is currently under construction in Lompoc, CA. To date, EHBDC has completed all our projects on time and without a single change order. EHBDC gets involved with all our projects well in advance of the construction drawings by providing pre-construction services which have included: strategic planning, master planning, methods of construction, material selection, preliminary budgets and scheduling. Once a concept/project has been approved, EHBDC takes the helm and works directly with our space planner and architect with construction methods, material selection and budget control. The end result has been projects that are completed as scheduled and within the original budget. We are very pleased to recommend them to you. Should you wish to speak with me directly, please call me.

E.H. Butland Corp. recently completed our Emergency Room Addition project which was completed within six months. Prior to that they completed a free-standing MRI building for us. The MRI project was completed start to finish in seventy- two working days. All of Butland's employees and subcontractors understand OSPHD and respect the system. They worked well with the architect, inspector of record, OSPHD and the State Fire Marshall. All of our inspections, although difficult, went well. Both projects were constructed, inspected and occupied ahead of schedule.

It is often a very hard to have the "real comfort" in selecting a contractor and of course finding a good one is also very difficult. However, I would like to share with you my pleasant experience with Ted Butland's company in a $2.2 million medical building project located in Century City, which was completed in early 1994. The building was planned by five very busy doctors from Westside. They were extremely creditworthy clients. However, they had a very limited time to spend on the project and were inexperienced in the construction business. My comfort in financing the project was greatly enhanced by the engagement of a creditable contractor like E.H. Butland. They completed the project two months prior to the completion guaranteed date. The project was finished satisfactorily without any cost overrun, mechanical liens or stop notices. As a matter of fact, there was a substantial cost savings.

I am writing this reference letter on behalf of E.H. Butland Development Corporation as they respond to your RFQ for 2 Story & Basement-96 Beds S.N.F. This is my second year at Store, Matakovich & Wolfberg and prior to that I have nineteen years of experience in Facilities Design and Operations at several large Hospital Systems. Over the past several years, E. H. Butland has worked on several of my projects, including a 60 bed Skilled Nursing Project at Inter-Community Medical Center. I have found Ted, Ari and Dave to be responsive, attentive to details and "customer friendly" in the healthcare setting, in and around a busy Medical Center. They provide quality service and completed each project in a timely basis.

I have been asked to write a letter in support for the EH Butland Development Corporation. My partnership utilized Mr. Butland's company as the General Contractors for the development of our three story medical office building. His company was superb. They were reliable, efficient and effective. All aspects of the job were well done and we completed ahead of the building schedule. I have previously been involved with several other building projects with other contractors and clearly Mr. Butland's company was superior. Ted himself is honest, experienced and dedicated; he was a pleasure to work with. I have no reservations in using him or his company in the future. Please call me if you have any specific questions.

I wanted to take a moment to say that I have been thoroughly impressed with the MRI construction Butland Development has done at Valley Open MRI in Sherman Oaks, California. Butland, and in particular their foreman Mr. Kalevi, have done nothing less than gone the extra mile by completing the job to all specifications as well as being available to return, without arguments, to handle all reasonable and necessary change-orders. Your commitment to service is commendable. I personally have been involved in "many" installations and worked with several construction companies and I want the management of Butland to know that none of these companies come anywhere near the professionalism and thoroughness of your organization. I plan to give my full recommendation of Butland to Hitachi Medical System's sales and site planning departments. Thanks for making the installation at Valley Open MRI a raving success and I look forward to working with Butland again.

I would like to express to you the high level of satisfaction the Inter-Community Medical Center staff have experienced with the recent relocation/remodel project of the Administrative/Support Services offices. Your employees, particularly Mr. Jeff Hanson, have been very helpful, efficient and accommodating as they have addressed our numerous requirements. Please share with them our appreciation for their efforts and expertise.

I stopped by your new medical clinic, just completed in Carpentaria, and wanted you to know that I was extremely pleased with the final results. I want to take this opportunity to thank Ted Butland, the General Contractor and his superintendent Jeff Hansen for a wonderful job. The workmanship on this building is excellent and Jeff Hansen's attention to detail was particularly important to achieve the results intended and is greatly appreciated. I also want to thank you for your cooperation and hard work in making this a beautiful and successful project. We enjoyed the working relationship and welcome the opportunity to participate in any future work.

As the Northridge Surgery Center moves into its final stage of completion I wanted to thank you and Bob McElwain on behalf of Helian Health Group, Inc. and the seventy-two physician partners on the extraordinary efforts that have been achieved by BUTLAND DEVELOPMENT CORP. on our project. Clearly the quality of work that BUTLAND DEVELOPMENT CORP. has performed through their contract arrangements with the various building trades (subcontractors) will make the Northridge Surgery Center a hallmark for medical construction in Los Angeles County. We are also appreciative of the weekly construction meetings that have been very instrumental in bringing this multi-million dollar project in on time and on budget. We realize this has been a difficult and demanding project with BUTLAND DEVELOPMENT CORP. performing a dual role as general contractor and liaison between Northridge Surgery Center and various governmental regulatory entities. Please feel free to use me as a reference on any of your other medical projects. And, should any of BUTLAND DEVELOPMENT CORP.'s potential clients like to tour the facility first hand, have them give me a call.

As the renovation project at the Kenneth Norris Jr. Cancer Hospital comes to an extremely positive conclusion, I thought it timely to write and express our gratitude for a job well done. In doing so, I wanted to particularly commend to you the performance of Randy Stuckey, the superintendent who has managed this project. Mr. Stuckey has established an extremely positive image for your corporation during this first Butland project at the Norris. I think it will serve your organization well in regard your competition for upcoming opportunities at this hospital. Your organization should be proud to have an individual of Mr. Stuckey's talent, understanding and management acumen in your employ. We are certainly grateful for the spirit of cooperation that he has demonstrated throughout the conduct of the Radiology project.

E. H. Butland Corporation recently completed the construction project for Anshen and Allen Architect contract at Kenneth Norris. The portion Siemens was involved with was the room preparation for our Angiostar/Polytron Digital System. Bud Stuckert, Siemens Project Manager and myself, want to compliment you and your staff on your professionalism. I am very impressed with the workmanship, and especially Randy Stuckey, your superintendent. Randy is a committed professional to achieve only highest quality standards while interfacing with a multitude of personalities I have passed on my feelings to other Siemens employees, and would like to request Randy's personal involvement with any and all future projects I will be involved with. Ted, your entire team did a great job, our customer is fair, but demanding and Butland came through with flying colors.

Thanks once again for doing an excellent job for one of my clients. The upgrade of the GE CT Scanner went in smoothly even with the rains coming down during the installation of the roof mounted A/C unit. Ari did his usual job of making sure everything was timed out exactly and Randy, the on-site manager, did everything including communicating with the staff of the medical center to reduce the stress level associated with any project. Please extend my many thanks for another job well done.

Although belatedly, I wish to thank you both for your fairness and your response to the uneven floor issue at the Methodist Hospital's Radiation Therapy Center. When we received the report regarding the "bulge" in the Linear Accelerator Room's floor, we knew we could turn to Butland for guidance and direction. We were very pleased that you took responsibility, along with your sub-contractor, and repaired the floor at no cost to Santa Anita Realty or the Methodist Hospital. Your action reinforces our opinion of Butland and how well you stand behind your work. Please know that we appreciate the professional and quick manner in which you handled the issue. I look forward to working with you again. Thank you.

In the past, we have built several projects using local Santa Barbara contractors. The problems and extras we encountered were substantial enough that we made the decision to use a contractor from out of the area. Ted Butland and his company built us a 9,000 square foot free-standing out-patient clinic in Carpinteria. The project went very well and as a consequence, we made the decision to use Butland on several more projects which exceed several million dollars in total. We consider E.H. Butland to be a professional company. They deliver what they say they will. Our problems have been minimal, and we are pleased with their performance. We have established a relationship with the Butland group that is working out very well. We are about to commence several more projects with them in 1995, one of which is a new 25,000 square foot medical office building. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact me.

E. H. Butland Development Corp. was evaluated based upon its submittal for the Prequalification of Bidders authorized under Public Contract Code, Section 20111.5. Criteria used for the examination of the prequalification submittals included, but was not limited to: Contractor's statement of experience; contractor's ability to secure contractor’s license, or have a valid contractor’s license at the time of review; responses from the contractor's surety; contractor's financial information; general letter of credit, including the certificate of licensed accountant; and, contractor's affidavit. The review of the materials, the completeness thereof, and the responses from either provided or discovered references from prior or current work and suppliers was weighed and evaluated. The District, after such evaluation, therefore found E.H. Butland Development Corp. qualified, pending Board of Education approval, based upon its investigation. Thank you for your prequalification response and interest in working with the District.

In speaking recently with Ted Butland, he informed me that he may have an opportunity to do some work at South Bay. Therefore, I thought I would drop you a note to let you know that he has done several jobs for us here at Tarzana Regional Medical Center and is scheduled for two (2) more this year. Dennis, we have found Ted to be on-time, within budget and has done an excellent job for us. Just wanted to pass this on to you because, as we all know, it is hard to find good, reliable people these days. If I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to give me a call personally.

E. H. Butland Corp. successfully completed our new $ 1,700,000 research laboratory building. They completed the project on time and within budget. They have a great deal of medical construction experience which helped everyone connected with the project. We would highly recommend E.H. Butland Corp. to you for the construction of your new laboratory. We found their project manager Mr. Ari Hieta and the project superintendent Randy Stuckey to be very professional in all respects. E.H. Butland's "can do" attitude was a definite asset to the project's success.

I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank you and your associates for working so diligently with Valley Presbyterian Hospital to complete the new MRI project with as little disruption of normal hospital activities as possible. We at Valley Presbyterian Hospital are very pleased with the aesthetic appearance of the building as well as your ability to work within our budget constraints. We also appreciate the fact that in spite of the earthquake and many aftershocks, your company continued to remain on schedule. We at Valley Presbyterian Hospital would highly recommend your company to anyone who is in need of your expertise.

Your construction crew has been most cooperative under the difficult conditions created by the minimal installation information we have provided. Unfortunately, our architectural planning group has not been able to clear the tremendous logjam created by the flood of orders received in December and January. As an amateur draftsman doing the work at night, it has taken some time to create these drawings. Waiting for the "complete" drawings would have delayed the project. Again, thanks for great cooperation from you and your staff.

Belatedly, I am writing to congratulate your Company on the fine job you did on our recently completed MRI and Imaging Center. The Project Manager Bill Campbell and the Field Superintendent, Bob McElwain were both very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and cooperative on a very difficult project. We are very proud of our new facility, and I'm sure you must be too. I look forward to the same fine performance on our Salinas, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo projects. Please do not hesitate to call on me for a reference any time.

I was the Senior Vice President at Tarzana Hospital from 1989 to 1994. Butland Corp. was a sole source contractor for American Medical International (AMJ) from 1983 until 1988 at which time AMI decentralized their construction program from the corporate office to the hospitals. As Senior Vice President, one of my duties was to administer the construction program for the hospital and E. H. Butland Corp. was an important part of our construction program at that time. I have personally worked with Ted Butland and his employees and found them to be very knowledgeable, reasonable and responsive. Many of the employees at E.H. Butland that I worked with ten years ago are still with Butland today. The managed care delivery system that we all are working with and the resultant recession in hospital capital spending have made it difficult for hospitals and the contractors that work for them. The fact that E.H. Butlund Corp met the challenge and remained focused on hospital construction is, in my opinion, to their credit. Prior to the founding of OSHPD in 1983, E.H. Butland completed many projects in the hospital under the jurisdiction of the City of Los Angeles. Since 1983 OSHPD grew in size and sophistication and E.H. Butland grew with them. E.H. Butland has kept current with all the rules and regulations along the way. They are knowledgeable about the system, work with it and do not fight it. Projects successfully completed by E.H. Butland at Tarzana Hospital include the Invitro-Fertilization Laboratory, Kidney Lithotripter Addition, Emergency Room Addition, Radiology, Expansion, Surgery Expansion, Med/Surg Unit Renovation, Skilled Nursing Renovation and the Women's Center/ Auditorium. Everyone at E.H. Butland is qualified to work on an OSHPD project. Over the years they have earned my respect and have proven to be a "can do" company. I have worked with hospital contractors from all over California and some from out of State. There are distinct advantages to working with a local contractor. I highly recommend Ted Butland and E.H. Butland Corp. for your project.

I want to commend you and your employees on the work completed at Los Alamitos Medical Center. Your staff was always polite and courteous, kept the work area neat and clean, but most of all were very professional in all aspects of the job. I am very appreciative of the hard work and would highly recommend your company.

Per your request, I am recording my impressions of the job E.H. Butland did at Marian Medical Center with regard to the renovation of hospital rooms for the eventual installation of a General Electric 9800 CT Full Body Scanner. Overall my feelings are very favorable. Butland's workmen were competent and conscientious. They worked swiftly and did not disrupt other hospital activities in their work. We are pleased with the end result. Minor delays and some confusion did occur in dealing with the plumbing and electrical subs but this is not to be unexpected when the project manager is located 150 miles offsite. You did, however, report to the job and dealt with these issues as necessary and the end results were favorable. I should point out that I was quite concerned when after negotiating the contract for the project with Mr. McHugh, I learned that he had been terminated and that at the beginning of the construction I was to be introduced to a new project manager yourself. However, after working with you through the project I have nothing but praise for the job that you did. I was impressed with the diligence and the speed with which you obtained State approval. I felt that you were knowledgeable in this type of work activity and most importantly, I felt you were fair both to your company and to the hospital in the decisions that were made along the way. I also believe that your company and yourself possess integrity which is a valuable asset in the construction business. I have every confidence that if problems were to occur in the future with the room or any of its mechanical systems, that you would be there to promptly and willingly respond to our needs.

Just a few words to give you some input regarding the restoration done on rooms 4510-4512 for Picker to install the Digacon. The cooperation and workmanship performed by your corporation can only be summed up as "top rate." Any questions I had were always answered by Mike who was in control of any situation at all times. If any changes had to be made, it was always done in a professional manner. My thanks to your people.
